Need help !

Sigh… my modem is giving me problems lately. I am using an Aztech DSL TURBO 100 modem. To anyone who wishes to get a new modem DO NOT get this model. It keeps disconnecting and sometimes, even though when the connection is established, I can’t surf the web at all. There is no information exchange between my computer and the server. Everything seemed to come to a halt, as if the modem itself crashes.

Does anyone have any complain about the Aztech DSL 305EW modem? I plan to buy that modem and wondering if anyone has any better suggestions. I have 2 comp at home and 2 laptop. (my dad’s laptop, my bro’s pc and my laptop ). I hope that the new modem can support all 4 pc and laptop without the need to use any external hub or router.

Please advice.

What a day...

23 April 2005, this day would be one of the days where I couldn’t believe that I could beat the odds of doing things. Surprisingly everything happened to fall into place nicely. Neat, huh?

Well, let’s start from the beginning. First of all I woke up at 9am in Malacca. Then I had my breakfast with my dad and went to fetch my grandmother at Ujong Pasir. I was supposed to fetch her at about 10am but then I was delayed (by certain chores that I had to complete before noon). That’s okay. I managed to reach at around 10.10am at her place. To my amazement (which I had anticipated) my grandmother was not ready. That’s alright I can wait a while (since I myself was a little late – give and take la u know what I mean right? Ha-ha).

Close to one hour and 40 minutes later, my grandmother was finally ready to embark on our journey to KL. Then, I rushed back home and threw whatever I wanted to bring into my bag, and headed off to KL (I guessed my uncle would call anytime soon to ask where I was).

Finally we reached Malacca toll. Yeah … the toll is a little further then I expected ha-ha. But considering the fact that I took 25 minutes to pack my stuffs and had them loaded into the back seat of the car and waited for my grandmother to finish her bathroom session and rush to the toll, I guess it was quite a feat. As soon as I reached the highway I floored the accelerator to take the car up to the 120kmph mark.

Ok, well so it took me about an hour to reach KL and guess what… my uncle called when I was around Nilai area. He said he was on his way home and those words were somewhat a relive, as I felt bad thinking that I would not reach his home on time. At that moment, I knew that I need not rush. Ok so while I was near KL Sungei Besi toll, my uncle called again. Wow, I couldn’t believe it; he said that he had just reached home and asked if we wanted to join him for lunch at a nearby restaurant. Since I was just about another 10 minutes drive from his place, so I thought why not? I haven’t had my lunch and I guessed my grandmother was a little hungry too.

After paying the toll charges (RM16.50!!! - can someone write to the authorities and tell them to have mercy on us students?) I made a left turn to the restaurant near his place (which is within a stone’s throw away from the toll plaza). After lunch, we went to my uncle’s place for a rest. During that time I tried his wireless internet connection on my new laptop ha-ha yeah call me a show off if you like :p. after taking some rest and checking some stuff on the internet, I decided to head back to Taman Melawati. We planned on having a BBQ at night and we had not prepared anything yet. But I was supposed to wait for my friend (Kok Siong) before I started anything, coz he’s the one that planned it all. Finally at round 5pm he arrived (thank heavens!). He wasn’t that late after all, because we were supposed to start only at around 8pm. So I guessed three hours in hand is a lot of time ;)

Without wasting any time we went to a nearby Carrefore to buy all the stuffs for a “happening” rendezvous later in the evening. After that we went to pick up another friend, Patrick (I guess that’s what he’s called … haha sorry, Pat) who wanted to tumpang us. In the end we reached home about 6.30pm. As soon as we reached home (not their home la but mine), another friend called saying she’s lost and needed someone to find her. Trust me, suddenly all the guys seemed soooooooooo helpful! I wonder why? Haha, due to my well developed and trained ability to track people, I was unanimously nominated (if I may use the word … ahem) to rescue Cindy (that’s her name) and her other friend, Ee Meng. I guided them to my place and we started the necessary preparation for the BBQ.

We all hasten our pace and by 7.30 pm the fire was ready, the chicken wings were ready, the fruits were ready, we were hungry as @#$%! At 7.30 pm we were in a position to stomach all that’s on the table, but good manners prevailed; we had to act very gentlemanly where there were several ladies abound.

Although about 8 people turned up when we officially declared the BBQ “open”, more made their way later. Thank goodness, there were still a lot of goodies left for those poor souls! This BBQ recorded the lowest number of attendees ever and would have made it into the Guinness Book Of World Records for it. Not that we had anything to complain, in fact the lesser the crowd the more we got to eat! Yummy ! So guys, do turn up for the next BBQ lah … and be sure to be on time! Hehe.

Nevertheless the intensity of fun that we had was comparable to all the previous cookouts (BBQ) that we had. Everyone was seen chatting, joking and enjoying themselves. What more could I ask for when the main ingredients to a successful BBQ i.e. lots of laughter and happiness, was present that night.

All good things must come to an end and what an appropriate end to the day we had. It came to a halt at about 2am when everyone started leaving with a big smile and a heavy stomach and, in no certain terms “agreed” that a night like this should be savoured once more …

… to be continued

ps. sorry if its way too long to read just wanna make up for the "quietness" of my blog
